He assumed the Imamate at a young age (around seven), which made him the subject of public examination by scholars of his time - debates in which his knowledge was affirmed. Two supplications (qunut) attributed to him are preserved on this site. He died in Baghdad and is buried in al-Kazimiyya beside his grandfather Imam al-Kazim.
